Bandwidth hogs—every family has one.
They’re either on YouTube all day or binge-watching some new streaming series, playing online games, catching up via video calls, working via Zoom meetings, or just connecting too many devices to the Wi-Fi network.
Most of the time, they’re even the ones complaining, in denial, or just clueless that they are actually the ones slowing down the Internet.
I’ve always been satisfied with our PLDT Home Fiber connection and never thought about this until my partner complained that despite our Internet speed, she could never win first dibs whenever her favorite online bag seller would post a new item.
Then I realized since we were always working from home, maybe it was time to get another Internet subscription.
Well, it’s a good thing we didn’t because there’s this new PLDT Home offer that solves that problem without having to apply for a new line.
MyOwnWiFi is the first-of-its-kind add-on service that allows existing Fiber customers to have a secondary Internet connection with the same speeds as their Fiber base plan.
MyOwnWiFi allows solo heavy bandwidth users to get the maximum speed of their modem without worrying about hogging the connection for the rest of the family members at home.
Even better is that MyOwnWiFi gives you the same speeds at half the price of your base plan.
For as low as P649, subscribers can experience the fastest speeds of up to 400 Mbps. New subscribers will also be getting a WiFi Mesh device delivered for free so they can connect more devices.
The best part of MyOwnWiFi is that there’s no installation required. Upon successful subscription, subscribers can connect the MyOwnWiFi device to LAN Port 2 of their existing modem and instantly get the additional same speeds as their current subscription. The add-on will also be charged on top of your current subscription bill, providing a seamless and hassle-free payment service as they need not worry about multiple bills and separate billing cycles.
#COMEBACKISREAL: ESGS RETURNS
LAST weekend despite Typhon Paeng, thousands of gamers and esports fans trooped to the SMX Convention Center in Pasay as the Esports and Gaming Summit (ESGS) 2022 made its much-awaited return to on-ground events.
Organized by Gariath Concepts and considered as one of the biggest Gaming Conventions in Southeast Asia, ESGS positions itself as the Philippines’s premier all-in-one gaming trends and experience showcase. It continues to grow in providing a wide range of gaming experiences and a forefront of trends, news and announcements about the gaming world.
The ESGS is an event where gaming companies, studios and independent game developers can showcase their video game titles as well as other gaming services to the public. Gaming groups and companies also organize esports competitions with professional gamers, casual players and enthusiasts.
This year, ESGS featured a lot of tech and gaming brands including ASUS RoG, Acer Predator, Philips, AOC Monitors, AGON, JBL Quantum, Riot Games, MetaverseGo, and many others. Going around all the booths to check each one out would easily take the entire day.
Greeting participants at the entrance was Acer Predator’s Meta City, where gamers immersed themselves in the flight and racing simulators, show off their Tekken skills, and join arms with others for combat at Dota 2 and Valorant LAN games. Fans also had a chance to meet and greet Predator Gaming’s ambassadors, including Kang Dupet, Reg Rubio, Amara, Een Mercado, Burg, Ashley Gosiengfiao, and Team Payaman led by Cong TV.
Acer also offered ESGS 2022 exclusive promos to those who wanted to get their own Predator and Nitro gaming laptops with up to 57 percent discount on select models.
Every purchase of a laptop entitled the customer to an Acer loot bag and/or gaming chair, depending on the unit purchased.
The culmination of the Asia-Pacific Predator League 2022 Grand Finals will take place in person from November 11-13 in Japan. This year, the competition will be divided into two tournaments: Dota 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds. Philippine representatives TNC Pro Team, Polaris Esports, GrindSky Esports, and Execration will compete in the Dota 2 finals while ArkAngel Predator will take part in the PUBG finals.
At the AOC AGON booth, gaming fans got to see and try out the latest collaboration between AOC and Porsche with the sleek Porsche Design monitor that was on display.
Our favorite audio brand JBL likewise showcased their gaming line Quantum at their own booth. JBL Quantum showcased the latest gaming audio gear, from headphones, earphones, speakers etc, complete with big discounts through flash sales and prizes via quick tournaments and competition.
Passing by the Ragnarok Online area gave me a feeling of nostalgia, taking me back to the days of Level Up! Live. Gravity Game Hub COO Robin Ng, CM Miko and CM Emi, together with other GGH staff, flew in from Singapore for ESGS 2022 and meet with old and new players.
Gravity Game Hub prepared a Daily Trivia where eager fans of Ragnarok Online showed off their knowledge in exchange for Ragnarok Online Acrylic Charms. They also encouraged new players to sign up for a chance to spin and win and score Ragnarok Online swags like caps, loot bags, facemask, T-shirt, coasters, and lanyards. It was also announced at the booth that gamers across the Philippines can look forward to the upcoming SRPG mobile game Ragnarok Arena, which will open its gates before 2022 ends.
Lastly, we dropped by the Razer booth. Razer is the world’s leading lifestyle brand for gamers while Razer Gold is a unified virtual credit for gamers worldwide. Together with AAA gaming title publications such as Activision Blizzard, Garena and PlayPark, Razer Gold held multiple game activations, showcasing different games available on Razer Gold’s platform, fans of Diablo Immortal, Free Fire and more can stand to win prizes of up to P5,000,000. Razer Gold also held fan meet-up sessions with renowned cosplayers and content creators such as Prince de Guzman, Awie De Guzman, and more.
