Still the undisputed concert king of the Philippine music circuit, Martin Nievera recently renewed his contract with Vicor Music and strengthened his professional ties with the Viva Entertainment conglomerate.
Many decades ago, when Nievera decided to pack his bags in the United States to try out the music scene in the Philippines where his late father was based, Viva honcho Vic del Rosario, who co-owned the Vicor music label with Orly Ilacad, met with Nievera and signed him up right away which led to the singer’s very first album, titled Take 1.
Nievera’s first big hit “Be My Lady” was part of that album and it immediately catapulted the then young singer to the big league. Not many know that “Be My Lady” was not originally sung by Nievera. When Nievera won as interpreter of Alvina Sy’s “Pain” at the 6th MetroPop Music Festival, “Be My Lady,” composed by Vehnee Saturno and interpreted by Pedrito Montaire, was a losing finalist in the same competition. But Vicor music producer Chito Ilagan liked the song so much so he approached Saturno if the label can include the song in Nievera’s debut album, and the rest was history.
With the recent renewal of partnership, Vicor Music has picked the immortal heartbreak song “Tell Me,” composed by Louie Ocampo and Allan Ayque and originally interpreted by Joey Albert, to be Nievera’s next single. “It will be just the first of many songs that we will release this year. Vicor and Viva have special spots in my heart, and I will certainly grow old with them!” gushed Nievera.
MOIRA FEELS AND LOOKS GREAT
IN demand singer-songwriter Moira de la Torre has a lot to be happy about these days.
She recently scored an endorsement deal with BonaVita Philippines to be the brand ambassador of their latest coffee mix drink, BonaSlim.
“We followed Moira’s personal journey and we were truly inspired by it. Like our product, Moira knew that real transformation comes from within and nothing truly rewarding can come in just an instant. Moira exemplifies the endorser that we have visualized and with her many achievements as a creative content maker, she will definitely bring the BonaSlim brand to higher grounds,” shared
BonaVita CEO Jethro Cerezo, who was supported by his entire family during the launch of De la Torre as celebrity endorser. For her part, De la Torre is proud of this milestone partnership with the brand. “I am happy to be the face of the brand. My journey was not easy, and I was bashed for many things, including the
type of body I once had. I tried to explore a lot of shortcut solutions but to no avail. It’s good that I realized that true change comes from within, that
it takes focus, discipline and determination to start that change. And most importantly, to love oneself first.”
She added, “ I was drawn to the brand’s tagline that looking good starts with feeling good. That’s why when this endorsement deal was sealed, I was truly happy!” De la Torre even composed a new jingle for BonaSlim.
