One series I am hooked on is Marry Me, Marry You: Merrily Ever After? If you’re into K-dramas and also watching this teleserye, then you would know what I mean. All the essential components that you love in K-dramas can be found in the Paulo Avelino-Janine Gutierrez-Jake Ejercito show. As the story soon reaches its climax, Andrei and Camille (Paulo and Janine) will have to find a way to overcome their relationship problems before their families, who are slowly unraveling a complicated history, totally tear them apart.
I simply love the dynamic between Janine and Paulo who play Camille and Andrei, respectively. Camille and Andrei couldn’t stand each other when they first met. Andrei is a snobbish rich guy, but thanks to Paulo’s portrayal of the character, there’s still that charm that make you swoon over him. Janine deftly plays her character with much positivity and warmth, and she is the perfect match to Paulo.
The series showcases a lot of subtle but cute scenes. One of them that netizens couldn’t help gush over is the rain scene where Camille was soaking wet and Andrei suddenly arrives with an umbrella. It’s actually an innocuous moment but thanks to that slow-motion action of Andrei approaching Camille like a true “knight in shining armor,” it was kilig vibes to the max.
Then there’s that “love square”. You see, Andrei’s best friend, Cedric, played by the dashing Jake Ejercito, complicates things by also falling in love with Camille. Andrei’s ex-girlfriend Patricia (Iana Bernardez), on the other hand, is nowhere close to giving up her love for Andrei as she grows more jealous of his blossoming romance with Camille.
Oh, there’s really so much to fall in love with in Marry Me, Marry You, such as other quirky characters (a standout for me is Sunshine Dizon; many of her scenes can be considered a highlight in each episode) and heartwarming secondary storylines.
So, imagine my shock to learn that the show is now on its last three weeks. Separation anxiety is real for this viewer as early as now. Spoilers ahead but Camille and Andrei do end up together and the former even gets pregnant but the storyline now is she suffers an unfortunate miscarriage. As Camille grieves and copes with the traumatic loss of the baby, she also becomes estranged from Andrei and will have second thoughts about starting a family with him.
Will Andrei and Camille’s love story have a happy ending? Is there still a chance for the families of Andrei and Camille to make peace?
Don’t miss the final three weeks of Marry Me, Marry You: Merrily Ever After? I certainly won’t.
