It’s never too late to learn a new skill. All the young at heart, 60 years and above, are invited to learn how to sing, carry a tune, or improve your singing voice from the comfort of your homes.
The Sunshine Place Senior Recreation center offers a One on One, and Group Voice Workshop with the esteemed Dr. Ed Manguiat, choral clinician, composer, song arranger and musical director and founder/conductor of the UP Singing Ambassadors. Dr. Edgardo Lumbera Manguiat has led the UP Singing Ambassadors to garner 8 Grand Prizes and 36
First Prizes in 20 international choral competitions in Italy, France, Hungary, Germany, Spain, Belguim, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, Wales, and Switzerland. A product of the UP College of Music, he has collaborated with National Artists Lucio San Pedro, Bienvenido Lumbera, Virgilio Almario, and Ryan Cayabyab, either as composer, or lyricist. Dr Ed is a member of the International Federation of Choral Music (IFCM) and the Philippine Choral Directors Association (PCDA). He was head of the New Era University Conducting Department. In 2015, he was conferred the honorary degree of Doctor of Music.
To kick-off the voice workshops at Sunshine Place, all seniors are welcome to join an Online Get-Together with Dr. Manguiat on August 26, Thursday, at 11:00 am, to get to know the well-loved conductor and founder of UP Singing Ambassadors. Dr. Manguiat will also regale us with stories of competing in many prestigious international choir competitions and how music has helped him cope with the isolation of the pandemic.
