The Embassy of Poland in Manila’s Chargé d’Affaires Jarosław Szczepankiewicz (right) as well as Counselor-Minister Anna Krzak-Danel (second from right), who heads the political and economic section, recently visited the University of Santo Tomas.
The visit included a courtesy call on UST’s rector, Very Rev. Fr. Richard G. Ang, OP., Ph.D, discussions with administrative officials, a tour of the university museum, as well as UST Hospital’s newest edifice: the St. John Paul II Building named after the Polish-born pontiff who visited the campus twice.
Highlight was the tour of the Antonio Vivencio del Rosario-UST Heritage Library, where a first-edition copy of Polish polymath Nicolas Copernicus’ “De revolutionibus orbium coelestium” (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres, in photo), printed in 1543, was presented before the Polish delegates.
