SAMAHANG Kickboxing ng Pilipinas (SKP) President Senator Francis “Tol” Tolentino hailed national team ahead of their return to Manila on Sunday, bringing with them two gold, four silver and two bronze medals from the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam.
“We salute their discipline that led to their success. It was satisfying and their training was really effective, they were really focused and disciplined,” Tolentino said. “That’s why the Samahang Kickboxing ng Pilipinas is very elated with the result.”
Jean Claude Saclag (men’s 63.5 kgs low kick) and Gina Iniong Araos (women’s 60 kgs low kick) won gold medals which Tolentino attributed to the athletes’ dedication and discipline during their high altitude training in Mountain Province months before the Games.
Claudine Veloso, Gretel de Paz, Zephanya Ngaya and Renalyn Daquel clinched silver medals, while Honorio Banario and Emmanuel Cantores bagged a bronze each.
Veloso bagged her silver in women’s low kick 52 kgs, De Paz in women’s full contact 56 kgs, Ngaya women’s full contact 65kgs and Daquel women’s full contact 48 kgs.
Saclag will stay behind to support the campaign of Iniong and Ngaya in Vovinam.
