As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Formed in 1991, Truefaith went on to become one of the decades most reliable hitmakers starting with the monster smash, “Perfect.” With their distinctive brand of breezy, jangly. middle-of-the-road pop as typified by subsequent hits like “Sa Puso Ko,” “Alaala,” “How Much I Feel,” “Muntin Nang Maabot Ang Langit” and “Shotgun Baby Bang Bang,” Truefaith helped define Pinoy Pop of the 90s with songs that strongly resonated with music fans.
Over the years as the band underwent several personnel changes with lead singer Medwin “Meds” Marfil as the one remaining constant, the band also incorporated elements of soul in their sound and still occasionally scored hits like “Deadma” and “Dahil Ikaw” while also successfully toured the US.
For SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine, Truefaith is represented by Meds and brother Eugene, now the band’s acoustic guitarist on a special home version of “Huwag Na Lang Kaya,” one of the band’s biggest and most well-loved classics.
Looking comfy and just chillin’ in the confines of their own home, the brothers delivered a relaxed performance that nonetheless captures the anxiety and uncertainty of getting to know someone you like, which during the 90s took a lot more effort without smartphones, the internet and social media.
