As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Agatha Leigh is a singer-songwriter from Quezon City who started sharing her heartfelt songs in gigs and productions. She enjoys writing out her tough experiences into soulful songs, such as her “thesis song” which humorously narrates her thesis-writing experience in 2017. Last year, she had the opportunity to join the PhilPop Songwriting Bootcamp in Lingayen, Pangasinan which allowed her to further hone her songwriting ability. This experience has inspired her to continue writing songs and performing. Agatha plans to release her music on streaming platforms this year.
Taking centerstage on SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine, Agatha performs “From Far Away,” a tender ballad she wrote about “falling in love with someone from halfway across the world.”
“it’s really about putting into words that wishing, that longing, that dreaming that you’ll be with [that] someone again real soon,” she elaborated. As Agatha further noted, “[many] people are [living] far away from the people they love” and she hopes that her song offers some kind of reassurance that distance, just like this pandemic, is only temporary and should not truly separate people who care about each other.
