As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Coming from a musically-inclined family that includes uncle Hajji Alejandro and cousins Rachel Alejandro and drummer Ali Alejandro of the band Mojofly, it’s no surprise that Nino Aejandro has also made a name for himself as a singer-songwriter and sought after live performer both here and even overseas.
The Awit Award-winning artist has been releasing solo recordings since 1995 and is noted for memorable stints in TV shows like That’s Entertainment and Music Bureau. In recent years, Nino’s career enjoyed a remarkable resurgence. He pursued his passion for rock music by leading his band, NATF (Nino Alejandro and The Force) to successful bar gigs in Metro Manila and many parts of the country.
In 2013, Nino earned rave reviews for his theater debut in Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment’s production of The Full Monty. This led to more acclaimed performances in subsequent years in other musicals like The Bridges of Madison County, The Jersey Boys and Waitress, all produced also by Atlantis.
But it was Nino’s memorable stint in The Voice of the Philippines in 2014 that turned him into an online sensation. Coached by no less than Lea Salonga, Nino became one of the breakout stars of the popular talent search series.
For his SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine session, Nino serenades music fans with a special home version one of his more recent hits, the power ballad, “Ako’s Iyong Iyo” which enjoyed airplay not only here but also in Guam.
