FOLLOWING its official launch in the Philippines, J&T Express bared its plan to open over 1,000 branches nationwide and double the capacity of its delivery service in the domestic market.
The newest foreign player to enter the local e-commerce logistics industry aims to quadruple its physical stores across the country in the next couple of years, J&T Express Brand Director Zoe Chi said. However, she said the company has no definite time frame as to when it will increase the volume of 500,000 packages it can handle daily to more than a million.
“But we will try to achieve it,” she told reporters during their recent kickoff event held at their newest warehouse in Bagumbayan, Taguig City.
The executive is confident they can replicate the firm’s success in other Asean member-states where it is present. J&T Express first penetrated the Indonesian market in 2015. Because of its extensive network that supports delivery services within city, intercity, interprovincial, and e-commerce customers, it widened its regional reach to Vietnam, Malaysia, and soon, in Thailand.
Operating 365 days in the most populous Muslim nation, for instance, it has so far covered large areas for free pickup services, reaching a peak of 1.5 million package deliveries per day.
While it took three years for the company to attain such delivery magnitude, Chi is hopeful to meet their output target here “as soon as possible” on the back of the country’s robust economy.
Based on data from the Philippine Statistics Authority, last year’s gross domestic product rate increased by 6.2 percent.
“With this economic growth, e-commerce in the Philippines is also growing,” Chi said. “As long as our e-commerce business grows faster, our factories’ [capacity] will also grow faster.”
Other than online businesses, J&T Express also seeks to support homegrown small and medium enterprises, which to date is over 99 percent of total registered establishments in the country.
The company covers nine regions at present. It delivers parcels and packages through its 254 branches and 41 distribution centers nationwide. It also offers free pickup services, real-time tracking system and a fast claims structure.
Since its establishment six months ago, the firm has expanded with 1,900 employees. With a fleet of 130 trucks, it has already delivered over 35,000 packages.
To give easy access to more than 1,000 customers, J&T Express has three-service platforms on its web site, mobile application and 24/7 hot line. A VIP platform is on hand for priority partners.
Technology-wise, it uses advanced IT systems to improve efficiency and deliver quality service to clients. It also provides pickup service with high transmission speed of up to two days in Luzon and three days in both the Visayas and Mindanao.
“As an express company, J&T Express is committed to helping our customers thrive in the e-commerce business by bringing our reliable, efficient, and fast-delivery service nationwide,” said Dean Ding, CEO of J&T Express Philippines.
“With ‘Express Your Online Business’ as our slogan, we hope to help our customers realize a more practical and efficient express service for online business and encourage the development of our business partners to be bigger and stronger.”
