THE Social Security System (SSS) is urging its individually paying members to update their contact information with the state-run pension fund to be able to receive their Payment Reference Number (PRN) via text message, which is required in line with the Real-Time Processing of Contributions (RTPC) program.
The SSS issued a statement on Thursday, urging its self-employed, voluntary members, nonworking spouses, and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), to provide and update their contact information to receive their PRN via text message.
The RTPC program, which calls for the generation of a PRN before paying, instantly validates, transmits and acknowledges contribution payments of the member to their respective records in the SSS.
SSS President and CEO Emmanuel F. Dooc said that having a PRN also helps the SSS member avoid delays in the processing of their benefit claims, among others.
“We strongly urge our members who are not yet registered in the My.SSS facility so they could generate their PRN online, to provide SSS their contact information for the issuance of PRNs via SMS. This way, they will be able to pay their monthly contributions and avoid delays in the processing of their benefit claims and other services,” Dooc said.
To update their respective contact information, paying members may go to an SSS branch near them, register through a PRN inquiry facility of collection partners of the pension fund, visit the My.SSS web site, or apply through the SSS’s mobile application.
There are 83,606 pensioners, 124,583 OFWs, 563,219 voluntary members, 7,005 household helpers, 4.13 million employed members, 225,057 self-employed, and 7,141 non-working spouses who are registered in the SSS web site and with registered e-mail addresses.
Earlier, the SSS allowed members to pay their contributions without PRN, in line with addressing the clamor of members who have difficulty accessing the Internet. But it was pointed out that the method was only limited to those who have not yet received any PRN before.
