CERES Negros and Global Cebu clash in another “Visayas Clasico” in the Philippines Football League (PFL) today at the University of San Carlos Stadium in Cebu City.
Global Cebu will play for the first time in its home turf which underwent renovation for several months. The match is set at 7 p.m.
Kaya Makati, meanwhile, eyes a bounce-back win as it tries to improve on its 3-2-3 win-draw-loss record for 11 points when it battles Stallion Laguna at 4 p.m. at the Biñan Football Stadium.
Ceres Negros (2015) and Global Cebu (2014 and 2016), which shared the last three titles in the defunct United Football League, are fighting for the No. 3 spot.
Global currently holds third place with 14 points on four wins, two draws and two losses. The Cebu-based team, which settled for a 2-2 draw with Kaya Makati last Sunday at the University of Makati Stadium, is just a point down in a tie for fourth place with Ceres Negros.
The surging Busmen, who have 13 points from four wins against a draw and a loss, will try to reassert their mastery over Global which they beat 1-0 behind an 83rd-minute goal from Jeffrey Christiaens in their first meeting.
Ceres will again lean on Spaniards Bienvenido Marañon and Fernando Rodriguez as well as locals Stephan Schrock, Iain Ramsay, Manny Ott and Oj Porteria.
Global, on the other hand, will bank on Misagh Bahadoran, Amani Aguinaldo, Japanese Shu Sasaki and Guinean striker Sekou Sylla.
