I am the moon
I glow where there is darkness
But only in fractions
You see a crescent of me
Afraid to show more
Just a silver sliver
The rest shrouded in darkness
Take a peek at my mystery.
Some nights, I show you half
Waning. Waxing.
Giving you some of me.
But never all of me.
Then there are nights,
When I shine my brightest
Heavy and full for all to see.
On nights like this, my love
I want you to be the Bakunawa
of Philippine lore.
The moon-eater.
I welcome you to
Devour me.
Only then will I be
Reborn.
The new moon begins again.
