MAKATI CITY — Renowned Mega Star Sharon Cuneta known for numerous commercial endorsements and ads in the past twenty years, advocates authenticity in advertising and brand ambassadorship.
“That is one thing I’m very proud of about being a dreamweaver. It’s that what we advertise or what we talk about is real,” Cuneta said during the press conference of InLife Sheroes anniversary celebration on Tuesday, March 12 at The Manila Peninsula.
She stated that it’s crucial, as an artist and ambassador, to be genuine, regardless of whether it’s something she truly desires. Being authentically sincere and knowing it within oneself is what makes her proud.
Cuneta began her music career by debuting with the single “Tawag ng Pag-ibig” in 1978 under Vicor Music Corp.
Her fame surged following the hit song “Mr. DJ,” written by Rey Valera. With over a million copies sold in the Philippines alone, she has become one of the most successful Filipino musical artists in history.
In 1981, she started to headline feature films starting with a string of hit with Gabby Concepcion that included “Dear Heart,” “P.S. I Love You” and “My Only Love.”
Throughout the years, she graced the silver screen with a series of acclaimed and box office hits such as “Bukas Luluhod ang Mga Tala,” “Bituing Walang Ningning,” “Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita,” “Madrasta,” “Crying Ladies,” and many others.
Her ability to transition between dramatic and comedic roles solidified her versatility and success in the film industry.
Cuneta’s influence and popularity have led her to be associated with various causes and brands over the years.
She furthermore emphasized, “Kasi I felt like I was putting my name out there and asking people to trust my word. So I didn’t want to disappoint them by endorsing something that I didn’t really believe in just because pinera ko. Never.”
“And I was just happy that God put me in a position na okay na akong hindi. I never ever, I never sold out. I wanted my soul intact,” she remarked.
Sheroes
During the anniversary celebration of the said insurance company hosted by TV personality KaladKaren, the Megastar shared valuable insights to women of all ages on the essential qualities needed to embody “Sheroes” (women heroes).
“Someone that lives not just for herself but for other people. Kahit na you inspire someone by the way you live or by the things you say. Wala namang perpekto, pero I hold up to my mistakes,” Cuneta said.
She added that one cannot feign perfection as everyone inevitably makes mistakes and emphasized the significance of apologizing and learning from those mistakes.
As a “shero,” Cuneta emphasized the importance of empowering both women and men.
She likens this empowerment to being a “dreamweaver” in people’s lives, guiding them to realize their aspirations and potential.
