"To give and not to count the cost, To fight and not to heed the wounds.”
The Prayer for Generosity is ubiquitous to the Ateneo experience. Young Ateneans are taught this prayer almost on the very first day they step into the school’s hallowed halls. More often than we care to admit, we find ourselves quietly humming the song’s melody as soon as the words “Dearest Lord, teach me to be generous…” are said.
Oh but to actually show generosity of spirit, through a singular sense of duty, day in and day out; under the heat of the sun, under the pouring rain, to keep a whole community safe. All of this with a smile on your face, basking in the sense of fulfillment for a hard day’s work, and the immense gratitude from the community you’ve sworn to protect at all costs.
And to embody this generosity by offering the greatest sacrifice.
The Class of Ateneo HS 4E 1997 honors this generosity from Kuya Jeneven Badiala who, on July 24, 2022, in the line of duty, was thoughtlessly taken from the community he served selflessly, and the family he loved unconditionally. Offering the talent of one of our own, we will be auctioning off this 20″ x 30″ watercolor painting of the Ateneo High School 4th Year Wing. Our class pledges that all of the auction proceeds will be given to Kuya Jeneven’s family.
We ask you to please support the silent auction that ends on December 3, Saturday at 8pm, Manila time. As a community who was extended this selfless and extraordinary act of generosity, let’s open our hearts and in his memory, give back to Kuya Jeneven’s loved ones.
