Having opened for and performed with several foreign acts over the course of her career, it’s no surprise that Diamond Soul Siren, Nina is thrilled to be sharing the stage with Danish hitmakers Michael Learns To Rock.
“I am so thankful to be part of this legendary group’s concert. I know a lot of our local artists want to perform with international acts so it’s always an honor and a blessing for me to be given this opportunity,” Nina told SoundStrip and other media in a recent interview session.
Asked if she considers herself a fan of Michael Learns To Rock whose big hits include “The Actor,” “25 Minutes,” “Out Of The Blue” and “That’s Why (You Go Away),” Nina’s eyes lit up and admitted that she practically grew up with their music.
“Their songs are quite simple and yet, that kind of simplicity has a big effect on me and I guess, many other people. I mean, ‘wow, their songs are so simple so everybody knows how to sing them. I’m not surprised they had a lot of big hits here,” she noted.
Aside from sharing the stage with one of her musical heroes, Nina is also equally excited at the very ideas of performing again before a live audience after the pandemic has pretty much forced many live performers to put their careers on hold.
Not being able to perform live was a big letdown, Nina admitted. As a seasoned performer, Nina said what she missed the most is the infectious energy and raw enthusiasm of the crowd in attendance. The chants, the cheers and of course, the applause is the kind of unparalleled fulfillment she looks forward to in every performance.
So despite the lockdowns or enhanced community quarantines as they are referred to here, Nina couldn’t stay in the sidelines for long. She continued to stay connected with her fans as she was still able to stage virtual online performances via Facebook.
“I missed singing live to everybody and I also wanted to continue sharing my music even during the pandemic, she said in explaining why she continued to find ways to perform given the circumstances.
Because she never really stopped performing, it’s also no surprise that Nina does not have any special preparations when performing with local or international artists.
“I make the same efforts that I used to in taking care of my voice. I don’t stay up late and I’m extra careful when it comes to my food intake. I make sure that I don’t eat anything that might affect my voice,” she shared.
Micheal Learns To Rock with special guest Diamon Soul Siren, Nina will perform at the Araneta Coliseum on October 26 and then at the Waterfront Hotel Ballroom in Cebu City on October 28 and finally at the SMX Convention Center in Davao on October 30. Presented by Wilbros Live with Midas Promotions, the series of concerts form part of MLTR’s “Back on the Road” world tour.
