ROOKIE Gian Mamuyac scored 11 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter as Rain or Shine beat Terrafirma, 106-94, on Sunday in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Elasto Painters under the tutelage of coach Yang Guiao controlled the entire game, handling the Dyip defensively all-throughout to get their second victory against a loss.
“Terrafirma is still a dangerous team. They played three good quarters before we caught them off guard in the fourth quarter,” Guiao said. “I really feel they will end their losing streak and it’s good that it’s not against us.”
Rain or Shine reinforcement Steve Taylor scattered 20 points and collected 24 rebounds while Beau Belga and Andrei Caracut posted 12 points each also for Rain or Shine.
Terrafirma now suffered its 19th game losing skid since last Governor’s Cup and remained winless in three games at this conference.
Lester Prosper led the Dyip with 20 points and 16 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel rebounded from an opening game defeat by crushing Meralco, 99-91, behind Justin Brownlee and Scottie Thompson to establish their 1-1 win-loss record.
Brownlee made 34 points while Thompson flirted with a triple-double of 15 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
