Senator Robinhood “Robin” C. Padilla underwent an unspecified “heart procedure” at the weekend and is recovering, a statement from his office announced on Saturday.
The senator, who actively participated in budget hearings at the Senate on Friday, “will continue with his recovery during the weekend, and expects to return to his work and normal routines soonest,” the statement added.
Padilla “has been cleared to go home after undergoing a heart procedure at the Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa City today, October 1, 2022,” said his office.
“He is deeply thankful for the outpouring of prayers and well wishes for his speedy recovery. We will provide further updates on Sen. Padilla as needed,” said the brief update as of Saturday evening.
The neophyte senator, an actor who topped the May 2022 senatorial elections, has plunged deep into work since the 19th Congress opened on July 25, attending most of the key Senate hearings and presiding at his own hearings of the Committee on Constitutional Amendments and Revision of Laws.
At the last hearing he attended on Friday, he had a verbal exchange with a Department of Foreign Affairs undersecretary whom he described as “barumbado” (rude, brusque) in replying to his questions, and reminded him to show some respect.
