Malacañang commended Mary Francine Padios on Wednesday for giving the country its first gold medal in the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam.
Padios won the women’s Seni (artistic) tunggal single event of pencak silat.
“The Palace congratulates Mary Francine Padios for bringing pride and glory to the country,” Acting Presidential Spokesperson Martin M. Andanar said in a brief statement.
“We are proud of you,” he added.
The concurrent Presidential Communications Secretary hoped the other Filipino athletes participating in the SEA Games would also win in their respective events.
“Good luck to the rest of our athletes in Team Philippines. Mabuhay ang atletang Pinoy,” Andanar said.
