Road clearing operation are set to resume on Nov. 16, 2020 under the new issuance of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
Interior Secretary Eduardo Año issued Memorandum 2020-145 instructing local government units (LGU) to complete the said operation before or until Jan. 15, 2021.
“So our LGUs will have two months to continue the road clearing programs in their areas,” Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said in an interview with PTV on Wednesday.
The said operations were temporarily suspended last March after the government started implementing community quarantines to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Since some areas remain under community quarantine, Malaya said the completion rate for some LGUs were relaxed.
Road clearing operations will remain suspended in areas under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) or Modified ECQ.
In areas under General Community Quarantine (GCQ), the completion rate for road clearing may be partial.
“If an LGU is under Modified General Community Quarantine or new normal, which means they no longer have community classification, they are expected to fully implement the road clearing directive of the President,” Malaya said.
