DON’T be surprised if you spot “The Beast” at the Philippine Basketball Association’s (PBA) Clark bubble.
The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) allowed Abueva to join the Phoenix Super LPG in Clark following a lengthy talk between Commissioner Willie Marcial and head coach Topex Robinson on Tuesday.
But whether or not Abueva will play in the resumption of the Philippine Cup remains a question. “This is considered a major breakthrough for Calvin and for the team,” Robinson told BusinessMirror. Robinson remained in Manila while his team left for Clark on Tuesday.
Marcial and Robinson were scheduled to meet with Games and Amusements Board Chairman Baham Mitra later in the day.
Robinson said Abueva already packed his things and are expected to head for Clark Tuesday night. The 6-foot-4 Abueva was slapped an indefinite suspension and a P70,000 fine for clotheslining TNT KaTropa import Terence Jones in May 2019. Earlier in the same month, the 2013 Rookie of the Year had a shouting match with Maika Rivera, girlfriend of former Blackwater guard Bobby Ray Parks Jr.
