Around 400,000 poor beneficiaries of the second tranche of Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Social Amelioration Program (SAP) are still waiting for their their cash aid.
In an online briefing, Social welfare undersecretary Rene Glen Paje said these are the remaining beneficiaries of the second tranche of SAP, which they are targeting to reach before the end of the month.
“They can be assured you will get this assistance because the fund for it is already allocated and earmarked for them,” Paje said,
As of Wednesday, he said they already released P82-billion worth of financial assistance for the second tranche of SAP.
It benefited 13.7 million people, which includes beneficiaries of DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), non-4Ps recipients, those wait listed from the first tranche of SAP, people from areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), transport network and vehicle service (TNVS) and public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers.
Paje clarified among the list of areas recently placed under modified ECQ (MECQ), only the poor from Bacolod City will be included in their second tranche of SAP as stated in a Executive Order No. 112 dated May 1, 2020.
He explained those from Lanao Del Sur and Iligan City, which were also placed under MECQ will not be covered by the second tranche.
The DSWD official, however, said the poor residents of both areas may still avail of their other programs aside from SAP.
Bacolod City, Lanao Del Sur, and Iligan City were recently placed under MECQ amid the rising cases of novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the said areas.
