THE local government of Muntinlupa City imposed on Wednesday a 15-day extreme localized community quarantine (ELCQ) at RMT 7A Compound upon orders of Mayor Jaime Fresnedi amid an “alarming” increase of confirmed cases and the faster doubling time for Covid-19 transmission in the area.
Muntinlupa City Health Officer (CHO) Dra. Tet Tuliao said that the compound has a total of 11 confirmed cases, five probable, and five suspected cases.
Covid-19 patients in the area were referred to the city’s isolation and treatment facilities.
Based on CHO data, there is a narrow doubling time in the community at 6.98 days and a high attack rate of 46/100.
Situated inside an industrial complex at Barangay Tunasan, RMT 7A Compound houses seven families with 24 individuals. There are 57 companies operating in the area with 1,639 employees.
Suspecting that a canteen in the complex became a transmission hotspot, the CHO conducted an investigation and inspected the food place with the city’s Business Permits and Licensing Office, which later ordered its closure.
The CHO is set to hold mass testing in the community and will intensify its detection, isolation, and treatment strategies.
Contact tracing will also commence among companies within the complex. The business entities were also advised to augment health and safety measures to prevent further infections.
The local government and barangay will provide additional relief food packs and other essentials within the duration of the ELCQ until September 24.
