The Agora Market in San Juan City was temporarily closed after a vendor was tested positive for Covid-19.
Mayor Francis Zamora ordered the temporary closure and immediate disinfection and sanitation of the area after a male vendor of a fish stall was infected.
Zamora said that the vendor is already in isolation and getting treatment in a hospital while his close contacts have also been swabbed and quarantined.
As added precaution, all 644 vendors, employees and staff of Agora Market were immediately swabbed and the market will remain closed pending their test results.
The first half of the workers were already swabbed at the Palacio de Maynila yesterday, July 1, while the second half were swabbed today, July 2. All the workers will remain in quarantine pending their test results.
Zamora said that market will be opened on Monday with the test results expected this weekend.
He said that only those who test negative and cleared by the City Health Office will be allowed back into the market to open their stalls and work their shifts.
Those who will test positive will be isolated and treated, he said.
