As part of BusinessMirror’s campaign to promote everyone’s safety and well-being during the global health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we have invited established and independent artists to perform at least one song in their own homes while urging everyone to stay indoors.
Denice Lao is an indie singer-songwriter based in Manila who has been releasing her own original material since 2019. An alumna of the PhilPop Songwriting Bootcamp, Denice specializes in “random pop-infused songs that speak her heart.”
For SoundStrip Live & in Quarantine, Denice is performing her latest single, “Breathe,” a brand new acoustic track that she wrote during the ongoing pandemic.
Denice says the song is an ode to loved ones who can be a source of strength during this difficult time. Like many other artists whose creativity was either triggered or only further enhanced by the lockdown, Denice does not at all feel restricted and is certainly not lacking in inspiration when it comes to churning out new music.
She also developed a rather unusual way of perfecting her craft by collaborating remotely with dancers who she allows to freely nterpret her music. For her SoundStrip performance of “Breathe,” she collaborated with dancer Cassie Remigio.
Get to know more about Denice and her songs by checking her out on Facebook or following her on Twitter and on Instagram. “Breathe” is now out on Spotify, YouTube and all other music platforms.
