The Villar family said it donated the first batch of disinfecting apparatus to nine government hospitals in Metro Manila, some 200,000 face masks and daily supply of bottled drinking water to the government, through the Department of Health, to help combat the novel coronavirus.
“In response to the escalating number of Filipinos affected by Covid-19, we are doing our part to support the efforts of the government to stop the transmission of the coronavirus,” Manuel B Villar, the company’s chairman, said.
“The disinfecting apparatus will help ensure the safety of our government hospitals, the medical frontliners as well as everyone in the vicinity of the hospitals; likewise, the face masks and drinking water are much needed by the medical personnel, police officers, soldiers as well as personnel from DSWD [Department of Social Welfare and Development] and MMDA [Metropolitan Manila Development Authority] as they implement the enhanced community quarantine in the entire Luzon,” he said.
The first batch of disinfecting apparatus will be distributed to the government hospitals in Metro Manila, including Las Pinas General Hospital, San Lazaro Hospital, Lung Center of the Philippines, Sta Ana hospital, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial hospital and Sanitarium, Philippine Heart Center, Quirino Memorial Medical Center and Rizal Medical Center.
