More Filipino entrepreneurs can grow their business if they adapt to digital technology.
This was the main message during the SIGN UP! Angat Lahat sa Digital Summit 2019, the biggest mobile app summit and expo in the country that gave Filipino entrepreneurs a learning opportunity on how to turn business ideas into actual products and services.
Organized by Go Negosyo, the record-breaking summit attracted thousands of participants as major digital platforms opened its doors to skilled Filipino workers, as well as micro, small, and medium enterprises to give inspiration and awaken the untapped entrepreneurial potential. Their objective was to educate entrepreneurs on the use of technology and digitalization, and its crucial role in the development of MSMEs.
āIt is crucial to let more Filipinos understand that the use of these platforms is the way forward. This has led us to create the digital alliance, to come together to help many of our skilled workers and MSMEs. This is the beginning of real change,ā said Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo Founder Joey Concepcion.
In line with the eventās purpose, Carousell, one of the worldās largest and fastest-growing classified marketplaces, and also one of the partners during the summit, continues to revolutionize the e-commerce space in the Philippines by being a platform that supports micro-entrepreneurs.
Carousell Philippines Head of General Classifieds Tina Bautista emphasized how technology is bringing ease and innovation to the world of business. āAt Carousell, we have hundreds and thousands of sellers on the platform selling different products. If you have any technological device and the willingness to learn, you can find a way to sell your products online. Going digital is what any entrepreneur should do because almost everyone owns a phoneāyou are exposed to a wider market,ā she said.
According to Bautista, up to a third of the products and services listings on Carousell were posted by micro-entrepreneurs with most of them selling fashion, electronics and furniture.
This figure is expected to grow as Carousell takes part in the Angat Lahat sa Digital Alliance, which is composed of different digital platforms that help MSMEs by providing effective insights and business strategies. Other platforms that are also part of the alliance include Grab, Angkas, Lalamove, QuadX, and Cashalo, among others.
Carousell also hosts a number of features that should appeal to entrepreneurs. Paid features, such as the Bump and Top Spotlight, make sellersā product listing more visible to potential buyers, while features powered by artificial intelligence, such as the category price suggestions, ultimately make it easier and faster for users to post their listings.
