THE official of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) who figured in a road accident in Egypt last week, may soon coming home.
In a statement, CBCP president and Davao Archbishop Romulo G. Valles said they received word that CBCP Secretary General Father Marvin Mejia is already in stable condition after his ordeal.
Twenty-two other Filipinos were traveling on a bus with Mejia to the Holy Land in Israel when the accident happened.
Mejia suffered broken ribs, but, Valles said, he is now “is out of danger and is already out of the hospital.”
The priest and his companions were expected to travel on Sunday (Oct. 27) “to Cairo, and from there fly back to Manila the soonest, as soon as their flight is arranged.”
He said Mejia will go through further medical examination back in Manila.
Valles expressed his gratitude to those who prayed for Mejia’s safety and recovery.
“I thank you for you prayer for Fr. Mejia and for those who were badly injured in the vehicular accident and for the one who was killed.”
