The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Thursday the Sta. Isabel Bridge along the Ilagan-Delfin Albano-Mallig Road will be opened within the fourth quarter.
Public Works Secretary Mark A. Villar said the P23-million bridge retrofitting project is now at 85-percent completion rate, which brings it to the “final finishing works” stage.
“As a main roadway to the commercial hub and alternate gateway to the city’s neighboring municipalities, it is imperative that vital bridges such as the Sta. Isabel Bridge undergo rehabilitation,” he said.
The project involves the deployment of carbon sheet and carbon plates to strengthen the 115 linear meter bridge. It is expected to prevent the occurrence of road accidents in the area.
Villar noted that the bridge is part of the agency’s “proactive approach on resiliency and sustainability meant to promote structural integrity and safeguard the lives of the people.”
The rehab started in May and “will be completed anytime this last quarter of 2019.” It is funded under the general government budget.
