MANADO—The Philippine Consulate General conducted the second Philippine-Indonesia Business Consultation and Fellowship late in August, where North Sulawesi traders, travel agents and trade officials discussed cooperative measures.
Participants of the twin-event resolved to take full advantage of the potentials of air connectivity between Davao and Manado in Indonesia, as well as the maritime connectivity between Davao and Bitung.
Garuda Indonesia Airlines has announced that it is set to open air services between Davao and Manado, while Philippine-based Reefer Express Lines has completed a trial voyage between Davao and Bitung, in preparation for regular fortnightly operations. Businessmen representing interests in fisheries, canning, agriculture, tourism, construction, food and beverage, cement, petroleum and other products attended the event.
As a highlight of the meeting, the consulate general presented the Mindanao Macroeconomic Performance in the areas of agriculture, economic accounts, tourism and trade performance. Manado PCG also disclosed the top exports of Mindanao and identified specific Philippine products with accreditation in Indonesia, which are ready to be sold in local markets. DFA
