FOUR-STAR Philippine Airlines (PAL) and low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific (CebuPac)) resumed normal flights to Hong Kong on Tuesday after Monday’s closure of Chep Lap Kok airport due to lack of air-traffic controllers, as prodemocracy protests declared a general strike.
“The resumption of normal operations by PAL to and from Hong Kong comes after protest actions within the airport premises have scaled down operations,” PAL said in a statement.
By Monday afternoon, more personnel reported for work duties, PAL added.
“PAL continues to closely monitor the situation and assures the flying public of regular updates,” according to a statement from the flag carrier.
Affected PAL passengers of canceled flights on Monday were given three options: One, to be re-accomodated on flights to and from Hong Kong on Tuesday (August 6); two, to rebook within 30 days from original flight date with rebooking fees waived; or to refund the cost of their tickets within 30 days from original flight date with refund fees waived.
