President Duterte has appointed Judy Carol L. Dansal as incoming National Food Authority (NFA) administrator, replacing Jason Y. Aquino, a reliable source confirmed to the BusinessMirror on Monday.
Based on the appointment papers released by Malacañang on Monday, Dansal is also set to serve the unexpired term of office of Aquino as member of NFA Council that began on July 2018 and that will also end this month.
Dansal’s appointment paper was dated June 11.
Prior to her appointment as the new NFA administrator, Dansal served as NFA deputy administrator for Marketing Operations.
To recall, President Duterte said Aquino requested to be relieved from his position amid calls for his resignation calls for alleged delays in importing rice.
Dansal’s appointment comes as the NFA’s importation and licensing function has been repealed under Republic Act 11203, or the Rice Trade Liberalization Law.
Under the new law, the NFA’s functions have been limited to buffer stocking.
In April, the National Economic Development Authority said the reorganization of NFA will affect less than 500 employees.
