Teenagers Richard Anson Navo and Erika Nicole Burgos swept top honors in the first-ever Vermosa Sports Hub Sprint Tri held recently at the sprawling sports and training facility in Imus City, Cavite.
Navo finished the 500-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5-kilometer run event held within the Vermosa Sports Hub complex in one hour, one minute and 49 seconds to take first place in the 15-17 age-group and the title of fastest male overall among the participants. Burgos was the fastest female overall and the runaway winner in the female 15-17 category, clocking in at 1:14:06.
Joshua Ramos (15-17) followed Navo over a minute later, followed by 30-34 age-group winner Raymund Velasco to round up the top three male finishers. Other top females were Kriska Sto. Domingo (30-34) and Kathrina Lagunsad (25-29) within four minutes of Burgos’s finish.
The Vermosa Sports Hub Sprint Tri—organized by Bike King with the support of Blackmores Philippines, Smart, hydration partners Pocari Sweat and Sip Purified Water, and official timer Garmin—also staged age-appropriate distances for children aged seven to 14.
“We are delighted that today’s event turned into a family affair for the many participants who joined,” said Vermosa Sports Hub Operations Manager Andrea Intalan, who awarded trophies to the winners. “It’s also very nice to see that many triathletes who trained here recently ended up as winners today,” she added.
Ayala Land’s Vermosa Sports Hub is the country’s first one-stop training complex for pro and amateur athletes showcasing a 50-meter swimming pool based on International Swimming Federation standards and the country’s only International Association of Athletics Federation-certified 400 meter track oval, a complete indoor training facility, and the 600-square meter Sante Fitness Lab.
