PINK, glossy and shiny aren’t always my choices when it comes to lipsticks. Combine pink, glossy and shiny in one lipstick and I have a recipe for disaster because I am that person who leaves lipstick stains on everything, including the back of the passenger seats of cars and lots of coffee cups and glasses.
But I will always make an exception for Dior not because it is expensive but because luxury brand makeup, for me, makes every woman happy from the packaging to the product application. Dior is one of those brands, which gets my need for makeup and skin care to look pretty and make me feel pretty.
Last year Dior released a line of ultra pigmented and weightless lipsticks called Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge, which I loved. I went through the iconic 999 shade in about three months, which is a record of sorts for me.
Dior Addict Stellar Shine, the brand’s new line of lipsticks, is no exception to how makeup and skin care from Dior has made me feel all these years.
Dior Addict Stellar Shine is a new formula that comes in a new case decorated with the Dior letters lit up in pink. It reminds me of the Dior Lip Glow packaging.
“Under the guidance of Peter Philips,
creative and image director of Dior Makeup, and faithful to this Dior spirit, color becomes attitude and shine, ever more extraordinary: a manifesto,” said Dior in a press release.
Dior Addict Stellar Shine proclaims: “Be Dior. Be Pink.” This signature attitude was inspired by Christian Dior, who defined pink—one of his favorite and lucky colors—as “the color of happiness and femininity […] Every woman should have something pink in her wardrobe.” Be Dior. Be Pink., is therefore, an infinitely Dior statement: to express femininity freely, without compromise, radiantly.
The claims for Stellar Shine are quite lofty:
- Tone-on-tone micro-pearls reflect light multidimensionally, boosting shine to stellar radiance.
- The formula includes beeswax of natural origin, as well as five ultra-sensorial lightweight oils selected for the exceptional properties of shine, nutrition, hydration, comfort and softness they bring to lips instantly and throughout the day.
- The formula, infused with aloe vera combined with oils and waxes, provides a fresh sensation on the lips from the first application and 24-hour hydration. At the end of the day, lips are 38 percent more hydrated. Day after day, they feel softer and more supple.
- A soft scent of vanilla instantly reveals an elegant sensorial signature. A subtle sweet taste adds to this fragrant surprise. Impossibly addictive.
The line is composed of 24 luminous colors. Stellar Shine comes in three made-to-measure, highly wearable effects:
- Glazed: Pure and luminous shine (16 shades)
- Sparkle: Dazzling, glittery shine (four shades)
- Mirror: Bold shine with metallic radiance (four shades)
Of the 24 colors, there are four “It Shades” that embody Be Dior. Be Pink.
- 976 Be Dior is “a resolutely iconic fashionable pink” that is the pink version of the iconic red 999.
- 536 Lucky is a bold red pink that will work for morena skin tones. I have this and I love it.
- 673 Diorcharm is a coral pink most women will love, in my opinion. It’s work-appropriate.
- 891 Diorcelestial is a glitter-filled deep purple.
Okay, now on to the review. I used Lucky almost everyday for two weeks and while I wasn’t a fan of the luminosity, I loved the color. I could wear it like a stain or on top of other colors and textures. For example, it softened the look of matte lipsticks. The luminosity, however, looked good on my colleague and friend Charlene, who has very fair skin. I let her try Diorcharm and it suited her skin tone so well that I almost gave it to her. But I didn’t.
As for the claims of 24-hour hydration, I didn’t wear the lipstick for 24 hours but, yes, it was very moisturizing. This is one of those lipsticks that have the moisturizing effects of a lip balm and the pigmentation of a lipstick. I normally wore it on top of or under a lipstick and I really did not need to wear lip balm. Dior Addict Stellar Shine was moisturizing without being too slippy. So would I purchase again? Probably yes, despite the price tag of over P2,000.
