The real estate market in the Philippines continues to grow at a phenomenal rate as the Philippines continue to be a major investment destination for Fortune 500 companies that directly impacts not only real estate commitments but also job creation.
As the industry flourishes to new heights, the real estate community has seen the surge for the need for more corporate real estate professionals, a job-function that has stayed in the background for a long time and rarely been promoted in the local job market or even in the universities. With the current changes in regulation being driven by the Philippine Regulatory Commission on the real estate practitioners, there has never been a better opportunity to elevate and promote the corporate real estate profession than now.
Corporate real estate, by definition, is a property used by companies for its own operational purposes which can be a corporate headquarters or a back office in the case of the popular use of office spaces here in the Philippines as well as branch offices, retail sites and also industrial and manufacturing facilities. Residential properties do not fall under this category. Corporate real estate as a profession and a job is an exciting functional practice, department, or profession that is focused with the planning, acquisition, design, construction/fit-out, management, and administration of real property on behalf of a company. Generally, corporate real estate professionals approach the real estate market from the owner-occupier perspective, both leased or owned by the company they represent or work for.
CORENET Global, a non-profit organization based in the USA, promotes the corporate real estate industry and profession and has since established global chapters all over the world. Not known to many, the Philippines has had a local chapter for almost 20-years now.
Joey Radovan who is a seasoned corporate real estate professional has recently taken the leadership role as the new chapter chairman. “The local chapter is setting its sights to focus on the promotion of the corporate real estate profession to the university students and also the young working professionals and present this as an alternative and fulfilling career relative to the normal pursuits being offered by the industry.
He continues, “Having been involved in the corporate real estate world and community in the Philippines for more than 20-years, I can confirm that this is a very exciting and fulfilling profession that is not known to many. The local Corenet Global Philippines chapter goal in the coming year is to make an extensive push to go out and promote the profession and the organization.”
