GMA Network Inc., citing data from Nielsen, claimed on Monday to have led the nationwide ratings game in January, after recording a 37.8-percent audience share in the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (Nutam), besting competitor ABS-CBN Corp.’s 34.8-percent share.
Similarly, it led the morning block with a 34.8-percent people audience share, a bit higher than its competition’s 30.9 percent.
It also won in the afternoon block with 40.1-percent people audience share versus the 34.2 percent of its rival network.
The Gozon-led television giant also claimed to have dominated Urban Luzon and Mega Manila, where it scored 40.1 percent and 43.7 percent, respectively.
The Lopez-led network, meanwhile, cornered only 30.1 percent and 26.8 percent for Urban Luzon and Mega Manila in January.
GMA, likewise, took the lion’s share in both Urban Luzon and Mega Manila lists, taking 8 and 9 spots out of the top 10 programs, respectively.
Urban Luzon and Mega Manila, respectively, account for 76 percent and 59 percent of all urban viewers in the country.
Nielsen surveys “approximately 900 more homes” than Kantar, which is ABS-CBN’s main measurement tool for ratings.
