‘Koko, Serge may still be disqualified‘

Senatorial aspirants Aquilino “Koko” L. Pimentel III and Sergio “Serge” Osmeña III are yet off the hook as far as their disqualification cases are concerned, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Comelec Spokesman James B. Jimenez clarified the cases of both candidates are still pending before the poll body.

“The stories [of their disqualification cases] are still not over specifically for the case of Sen. Koko and former Sen. Serge,” Jimenez said.

The Comelec decided to still include both high-profile candidates in the 2019 midterm ballots since they were not considered as “nuisance candidates.”

Jimenez noted waiting for the final outcome of both “complex” cases may further delay the printing of their ballots.

“There are deep issues involved. That is why the Comelec is taking the time it needs to answer these intelligently,” Jimenez said.
