Local, international firms join Philippine garments, leather, fabric expo

Business opportunities will welcome participants and exhibitors at the first Philippine Leather Goods, Garment and Fabric Expo set  from August 23 to 26 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Nine Philippine-based companies are joining 63 companies from seven countries, including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, India, Pakistan and Malaysia in showcasing their products and services to bolster the huge potential of the local garments, leather goods and fabric for export.

The expo is endorsed by the Philippine Board of Investment (BOI), Confederation of Wearables Exporters of the Philippines, and supported by the Textile Producers Association of the Philippines, Marikina Shoe Industry Development Office of the LGU Marikina; the Garment Manufacturers Association of the Philippines and the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Textile and Research Institute (DOST-PTRI). It is mounted by CP Exhibition Inc., in partnership with the Philippine Exhibitions and Trade Corp., to showcase fabrics and garment accessories, garment machinery and parts, textile machinery, nonwoven machinery, dye machinery and chemicals, industry/factory automation, quality control, computer-aided design tools and software, as well as leather and leather goods machinery.

Local participants are a mix of big players and stakeholders which includes Golden Island Fashion Accessories, a wholesale and retail store that’s been operating for 10 years engaged in the sale of garments and bags, fabrics and printing materials; along with Kimura Chavez Enterprises, a dealer of the finest sewing machines in the Philippines, and FedChem Manufacturing and Distribution Inc., which produces sealants, adhesive, coatings and other ancillary products.

Joining them are companies engaged in embroidery:

Armena Embroideries, the sole Philippine agent of Barudan Embroidery Machines from Japan, and Tajima Embroidery Machineries Philippines, which distribute Tajima computerized embroidery machines and products, as well as, Mohist Group, which imports and distributes raw leather materials and finished leather goods

Completing the list of local exhibitors are woven and knitted fabric supplier Shanghai Global Corp. (AsiatexPH), large format printer distributor Big Pix Industries and Testex Swiss Textile Testing Ltd.

Among the international companies in the roster are D&A Industries Co. Ltd., leading supplier of edge paint for leathergoods; Foshan Hinton Textile Co. Ltd., which trades in denim fabrics; Fujian Quanzhou Aotu Precision Machine Co. Ltd., producer of various knitting machines; Hangzhou Xinjiaxing Import and Export Co. Ltd.; Phoenix Flame Holdings Limited, a manufacturing corporation for underwear accessories and raw materials; and Shaoxing Tuning International Trading Corp., an import-export company of leggings fabrics, fashion textiles, upholstery fabrics, and fashion and accessories.

Also joining the expo are Sprayway Singapore, distributor of aerosol products for garment, embroidery and screen printing; Tae Sin l&T Co., distributor of machines, including high-speed needle loom, electronic jacquard machine, high- speed braiding machine, crochet knitting machine, winder, pp yarn maker machine, covering machine and dyeing machine; Wuhan Shine Technology Co. Ltd., which trades in dyes and pigments; and Zhuji Shigan Knitting Machine Co. Ltd., first professional manufacture of streamlinedmachine in China.
