CELY Fuerte was born on October 22, 1948, a single woman living in the Philippines. She obtained a degree in Education and spent part of her life working in the United States.
When she was young, she was scared to be in a committed relationship, being married, being pregnant and giving birth. These fears prevented her from being romantically involved with anyone. She preferred to be alone, emotionally isolated.
“It was difficult for me to trust anyone, seeing my friends being married for 10 years and finding out the man they married were not who they pretended to be,” she said. “Despite years of being together, you cannot know the person fully. That is why as time goes by, their true colors will show.”
During her younger years, she was diagnosed with lumps on her breasts and she opted for their removal.
In 2013 she was diagnosed with cancer antigen on her left breast. She thought it was over.
But medications and chemotherapy made her conquer the malignancy. She had her left breast removed. But after four years, last year, she was again diagnosed with CA on her right breast. She opted for radical mastectomy. As she was recuperating, the thought of being alone scared her. She was getting more tired.
“Now, I see the need to have a husband, to take care of me and to give me assistance wherever I do my chemotherapy and to accompany me whenever I go, to get discounts for my medications. But so much time has gone and I’m alone,” she said. “To be frank with you, I’m hoping to meet somebody who could probably be my daughter to help me, so when that time comes when I am weak there will be someone I can lean on.”
She said if she couldn’t have a husband before she gets too weak, she continues to pray for a female companion whom she could treat as her child and who would take care of her.
Also, she added some establishments have been a blessing since there is nobody who can help her financially.
“I thank the Roach Foundation and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office for greatly helping me in my financial needs and giving discounts I couldn’t even imagine paying,” she said.
All in all, she is well and empowered by her faith in God. She added, “You cannot lean on everybody, but you can lean on someone always and that is the Father in Heaven.”
She said, “All you have to do is ask and God will provide. I couldn’t say enough to thank him for a lot of blessings.”
