NOW is the perfect time to put this band on the spotlight. I always had this feeling that one way or another, I do have to find some new music in my ears and drown myself in it for over a week and make it a repetitive course of living.
It is, in fact, the reason how I got to know the band Better Days. They have two singles on Spotify: Nararamdaman and Sige Lang that actually hit thousands of listeners, and I’m glad I took my headset and listened. Two singles are nothing but a feeling of hearing a complete set of tracks. They have this kind of style that translates your mood into something like floating. Music is there; their music is all you need.
A tendency of not just wanting, but needing, to hear their music live on March 7at the 70’s Bistro during their Sige Lang music video (MV) launch, I got the chance to witness their amazing talents (and yes, even had the chance to have a small talk with them).
The band is composed of three members: Daniel Paringit (vocals and lead guitarist), Rosner Mabuti (pianist) and Gelo Cabigon (bassist). They’ve been in the industry for seven months and it is pretty cool how everything from that short period of time led them to where they are now: school tours, singing alongside the big bands, and even being a part of this year’s University of the Philippines school fair.
The band name is as positive as how it sounds. Paringit said they just wanted to feel that every day that is about to come is something they needed to look forward to. They also want to keep their music that way: something that will keep their listeners going. Despite coming from different places and excelling in different genres, what made this band united, despite the short period of time they have spent together, is that they are trying to give music a new flavor. For all I know, it is really working.
Bands such as Hilera, Banda ni Kleggy, Stellar and Where’s Ramona joined them in their MV launch. The showing of the video and their full-set performance capped off that night.
Judging from my perspective, the band is just as hopeful as any local act out there and I could say that they are really as promising as they could be. They could go for the long run and maybe find additional members to up their good music. Plans for 2018 are huge under their new contract with Universal Records but right now, I am glad that I had the chance to meet them in person.
Check out their songs and add them into your playlist—I assure you of nothing but solid original Pilipino music. Kudos for a good start, Better Days. Together, let us keep this industry alive.
