The Lent is a season for contemplation and acts of devotion. There are various expressions of faith and in Batangas, a spiritual journey can start with a two-wheel pilgrimage.
This is the annual “Bisikleta Iglesia,” which will kick off on March 24, Saturday, at 5:30 a.m. The 52-kilometer religious and heritage tour will be led by running priest Fr. Robert Reyes, OFM.
This is the second time that Father Reyes is joining the Bisikleta Iglesia, an event staged by Lima Park Hotel. Participants will have stopovers at seven churches, namely, Sto. Niño Parish Church; Marian Orchard; Divino Amor Chapel-Redemptorist; Parish of Mary Mediatrix of All Grace; Our Lady of Mount Carmel Monastery; Metropolitan Cathedral of San Sebastian; and Parish Church of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus.
Last year the event gathered over 150 cyclists from Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite and Manila. Cyclists from different age brackets came—the youngest participant was EJ Yabut, 11 years old, and the oldest was Efren Evangelista, 67 years old.
The event’s registration fee is P398, inclusive of breakfast, packed snack and buffet lunch. The first 100 registrants will receive commemorative Bisikleta Iglesia jerseys. There will also be a chance to win Lima Park Hotel gift certificates and other goodies. The Bisikleta Iglesia Weekend package is priced at P3,472, with a maximum of four guests who can enjoy an overnight stay in a Superior Room, complete with breakfast meals for two.
