What was planned to be a simple sendoff turned out to be more than what the Kuala Lumpur 29th Southeast Asian Games-bound national cycling team has expected on Thursday morning.
PhilCycling Chairman Alberto Lina fetched the cyclists from the Amoranto Velodrome in Quezon City with an UBE Express Premium Airport Service bus and brought them to the Air21 headquarters at Cargohaus in Parañaque City, where they shared breakfast.
And at the Naia Terminal 2, PhilCycling President, Tagaytay City Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, surprised the team and sent them off as they lounged around before taking an 11 a.m.
Philippine Airlines flight to the Malaysian capital. The team members include Incheon Asian Games BMX gold medalist Daniel Patrick Caluag, Singapore SEA Games time trial champion Marella Vania Salamat, Christopher John Caluag, Mervin Corpuz, Dominic Perez, George Oconer, Jerry Aquino Jr., John Renee Mier, Kristian Emmanuel Reyes, Marcelo Felipe, Mark John Lexer Galedo, Ronald Oranza, Rustom Lim and Sienna Elaine Fines.
