LOCAL budget carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific’s sister company CEBGo announced changes in flight schedules in anticipation of a six-hour runway closure at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) today, August 11.
No flights have been canceled, but several domestic flights will be reaccommodated, PAL said.
“PAL is implementing schedule changes for several flights to and from Cebu in anticipation of the runway closure at the MCIA on Friday, to pave the way for much-needed repair works,” PAL Spokesman Cielo Villaluna said.
She listed nine flights where passengers from Manila, Cebu, Davao and Puerto Princesa and vice versa would be reaccommodated, while 24 flights to Cebu, Caticlan, Clark, Iloilo, Cagayan, Tacloban, Bacolod, General Santos and other interisland flights and vice versa would “operate with adjusted timings”.
PAL said flights from Tagbilaran to Cebu, Cebu to Caticlan, Caticlan to Clark, Caticlan to Cebu, Cebu to Iloilo, Cebu to Cagayan,Tacloban, General Santos and back would be adjusted.

Earlier, Cebu Pacific announced flight cancellations and rescheduling due to the runway closure.
The low-cost carrier’s CEBGo listed flights from Manila to Singapore and Hong Kong have been affected.
Also affected by the closure are scores of Cebu Pacific’s interisland flights, such as those going from Cebu to Kalibo, Dumaguete, Zamboanga, Davao, Tawi-Tawi, Siargao, Butuan and Tacloban.
International flights affected are those from Cebu going to Singapore and Taipei.
Canceled flights are from Manila to Cebu and back, Cagayan de Oro to Laguindingan, Boracay to Clark, Cebu to Hong Kong, Manila to Davao and Cebu, Bacolod and back, including Cebu-Cagayan de Oro (Laguindingan)-Cebu.
