STEEP mountains, deep valleys and a generally difficult terrain isolate far areas in the Cordillera region, depriving many residents of cable television that brings entertainment and staying in touch with what’s going on in the world.
Starting with Baguio City, Sky Cable Network recently launched SKYdirect, a direct-to-home cable service.
Now, where cable lines were not available because of distance and terrain, Baguio residents can enjoy a diverse lineup of cable channels, including ABS-CBN HD, ABS-CBN Sports+Action, ANC, Cinema One, MYX, Lifestyle, Jeepney TV, DZMM Teleradyo, ABS-CBN Regional Channel, Yey, Cinemo and Tag TV, with the new SKYdirect package.
Top-rating cable channels Cartoon Network HD, HBO HD, Disney, Nickelodeon, Warner TV HD, RTL-CBS Entertainment, TLC, AXN HD and History HD are also offered by the newly launched cable service.
SKY’s Regional Business Head Ed Patron said SKYdirect aims to give Filipino families, wherever they may be in the country, the entertainment experience they deserve via some of the most enriching channel variety that SKY has become known for.
SKYdirect offers both monthly prepaid and postpaid plans, starting from Plan 99 to P250 and P450 for prepaid arrangements, making it truly affordable for Filipino families. Postpaid plans are at P250 and P450.
The P99 prepaid plan already offers a wide variety of the ABS-CBN smorgasboard shows and channels.
The SKYdirect kit is also now priced lower at P2,699, from the original P2,990.
Sky is the pay-TV and broadband unit of ABS-CBN, a top media and entertainment company in the country, that is transitioning into a digital company.
Sky Cable Corp. was the first to introduce cable television to Filipinos in 1990 and to offer the most number of HD channels. Its properties, beyond pay TV, include One SKY Premium (unlimited all-in-one plans), One SKY Lite (all-in-one plans with data allowance), SKY On Demand (video-on-demand), SKYmobi (mobile internet), SKYcable (cable pay TV) and SKYdirect (direct-to-home pay TV).
