THE National Youth Commission (NYC), in partnership with the All-China Youth Federation (ACYF), has selected 10 delegates from the Philippines to participate in the Asean Young Leaders Training Program in Beijing and Yunnan, China, from March 20 to April 16.
The all-expense paid program will teach the select young leaders about China’s youth organization and youth work. They will see the achievements of China’s development and make friends with the Chinese people.
The delegates are Jae Denise Adolfo of the BusinessMirror; Reynaldo G. Nalliw of the local government of Lamut, Ifugao; Clarissa O. Alibuyog of NYC; Shernan F. Gamol of the Office of Rep. Reynaldo V. Umali; Joan Cris H. Gonzales of the local government of La Paz, Agusan del Sur; Julliano Fernando Guiang of PTV 4; Joey R. Hombre of Bicol University; Yvonne C. Pacete of University of San Carlos; Ericka Vernadette Sallador of GMA Network; and Airon J. Samac of Mapua Institute of technology.
The training will be held at the China Guangxi International Youth Exchange Institute.
Established in 2002, the institute aims to enhance the friendly relationship between China and its neighboring countries, especially in the Asean, and to promote the friendship and mutual trust of the young generation through various activities, such as exchanges, study and training.
ACYF, the organizer of the event, will shoulder all the expenses, including international flights, tuition, food and accommodation and cost of organized visits in China. It is a federative body of Chinese youth organizations established in 1949, which represents and protects the legitimate rights and interest of young people and promote youth participation and development.
ACYF’s programs and activities are education and training; voluntary service; developments of new countryside; environment protection; protection of rights and interests; innovation and employment; youth culture; international exchanges and cooperation; and exchange programs.
The implementer NYC, established through Republic Act 8044, or the Youth in Nation-Building Act, is a government agency that specifically addresses issues surrounding the Filipino youth.
