CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—At least 3,000 college students received recently scholarship grants totalling P9 million from the provincial government.
Of the scholars, 500 were sponsored by the office of Vice Governor Dennis Pineda; 591 from the office of Board Member Olga Frances David Dizon; 1,268 identified by Nanay Community Workers and 640 are persons with disabilities (PWDs) or their relatives.
The distribution of scholarship aid amounting to P3,000 each was held at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in this city.
The parents of the scholars said they are grateful to the provincial government for the assistance, as it would greatly ease the daily expenses of their children in school.
In his message, Pineda told students to grab the opportunities of being in school and advised them to study hard and finish their college education to get a decent job and help their families uplift their living condition. “I want you to get passing grades, aim high and be a law-abiding citizen and be an active partners in nation-building.”
Joy Vemise Quiambao, a native of Santo Tomas town and a second-year business administration student from Don Honorio Ventura State University, said the scholarship grant is a big help for her to finish her studies, get a good job and eventually help her family.
Vice Mayors Ramon Changcoco (Arayat), Dexter David (Porac), Leonard Salas Jr. (San Luis), Board Members Ferdinand Dinan Labung, Ananias Jun Canlas and Rosve Henson and some municipal councilors also graced the distribution.
