TRAIN operator Light Rail Manila Corp. has two early Christmas gifts to commuters: extended operating hours and free rides.
The company extended the operations of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 by an hour to 11 pm on Saturday. This will run until December 23.
It has also added 7 additional trips every night in keeping with the demand for late-night urban transport.
Throughout the 20-day period, there will be additional northbound trains from Baclaran every 10 minutes after 9:30 p.m. and every 15 minutes after 10 p.m. on weekdays. The last train leaves Baclaran at 11 p.m.
From Roosevelt on weekdays, there will be additonal southbound trips from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
On weekends, last trips for Baclaran and Roosevelt will be at 11 p.m.
In August, the private train operator added 14 trips to the weekday service hours for early morning and late-night commuters. It will give concessionary beep card (CBC) holders—the elderly and persons with disability—free rides on weekends and holidays until January 8. To get the free ride, CBC holders must ride with at least two family members.
