RDC 7 OKs proposed Mandaue-Consolacion-Liloan  road-bypass project

CEBU CITY—The Regional Development Council-Infrastructure Development Committee (RDC-IDC) 7 on Thursday has approved the Mandaue-Consolacion-Liloan bypass road project.

National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) 7 Director Efren Carreon said the project is expected to ease up traffic along the present Tayud-Liloan road and the Cebu North Road.

“This is a very good project that would also ease traffic along the national highway,” Carreon said.

The final project cost and actual length of the road project will be determined through the feasibility study to be conducted by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 7.

Carreon said the new road project would complement the P9.2-billion new Cebu international port, which the Cebu Ports Authority (CPA) intends to build on a 12-hectare site in Tayud, Consolacion town in northern Cebu.

CPA General Manager Edmund Tan said the construction of the new international port is expected to start in the third quarter of 2017.

Tan said President Duterte has given the go signal for the CPA to proceed with its proposed international port project in Consolacion, Cebu.

Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Glenn Soco said he hopes the new road project will materialize soon, as this will play a vital role in the growth and development of Cebu.
