RAINY days are here, according to Pagasa. Classes have been suspended a number of times recently, due to heavy downpour and monsoon rains flooding many parts of Metro Manila, even worsening an already impossible traffic problem.
But one Saturday last month, particularly at the KIA Theater in Cubao, Quezon City, it was all sizzling and steamy as The Hashtags held their first major concert, titled Roadtrip.
Watching the concert was exactly that—a trip. I coerced my officemates Julieanne Letada and Neth Ngo to watch with me. They gladly obliged, maybe because they, too, like the Hashtags. Readers of this column should already know how crazy I am over The Hashtags, and I even boldly wrote how I would commit harakiri just to get the attention of Hashtag members Ronnie Alonte, Zeus Collins, Tom Doromal and Nikko Natividad.
Thank God it didn’t cost my life to get a chance to be chummy with the Hashtag boys. While I still adore Ronnie, Zeus and, especially, Nikko and Tom, I have started to open my heart to the other members of group. Ryle Santiago is the youngest and most congenial among the boys. He sometimes calls me Hashtag Jet for reasons unknown. I would like to assume he thinks I’m cool enough to join their clique. Truth is, I think he sees in my eyes how obsessed I am with them, he calls me that to patronize me.
I also like Jon Lucas. He’s a hunky boy, but is such a sweetheart. He is so nice; I think if I tell him to jump into the Pasig River, he would. And with not a second thought. Mccoy de Leon remains to be a grounded person, despite his newfound fame as a Hashtag and one of the contestants of Pinoy Big Brother. He has a smile plastered to his face forever that I think, even if I kick him in the basket, he would grimace momentarily before flashing me his pearly whites.
Paulo Angeles is a smart and thoughtful boy and actually witty. Luke Conde is so dreamy when he smiles at me. I’m hypnotized, actually. Jimboy Martin is simple and kind, while Jameson initially seems aloof, but he’s just the male version of a “bitch” face and he’s actually an angel.
Anyway, back to the Roadtrip concert. I’m not about to say their concert was a landmark musical event. It was actually more of a dance concert and there were even suites where their individual talents were highlighted. It was far from perfect—but who’s complaining? I had a good time watching these 11 boys gyrating in front of me.
Of course, my favorites were the rap portion of Tom (he looked so hooot!) and Nikko’s comedy suite (he, indeed, has impeccable comic timing).
That Saturday, during The Hashtags’ Roadtrip, I was hashtag happy.
