UNIVERSITY of the Philippines (UP) clashes with San Sebastian College in a battle of survival in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13 Collegiate Conference quarterfinals on Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
The vastly improved Lady Maroons, bannered by Isa Molde, Diana Carlos, Justine Dorog, Kathy Bersola and Nicole Tiamzon, and the Grethcel Soltones-led Lady Stags, who has been flaunting a vaunted chemistry in their previous matches, fight for a semifinals berth at 4 p.m. Ateneo de Manila, meanwhile, also shoots for a semifinals slot when it faces dangerous Far Eastern University (FEU) at 6 p.m.
The Lady Stags and Lady Maroons dropped their last matches to fall into a tie with the Lady Eagles at third with a 2-2 record.
Ateneo, which swept ousted University of Santo Tomas last Monday to keep its backdoor bid alive, will also have a tougher opponent in FEU, which is also expected to go all-out for the momentum needed in the Final Four.
Defending champion National University and Far Eastern University took the first two semifinals slots with 4-1 and 3-1 records, respectively, leaving San Sebastian, UP and Ateneo disputing the last two berths in the tournament backed by Mikasa as official ball and Accel as official outfitter.
